Granite & Quartz worktops buyer's guide |
This buyer's guide was put together to help potential customers when purchasing granite or quartz worktops. |
Buying Quartz Worktops |
When considering a quartz worktop purchase you must first select a company that stocks quartz worktops that is manufactured on a Breton machine if you do not do this you will probably end up buying a quartz worktop that has been manufactured in China or India. Non Breton made quartz worktops stain as they are porous and they also fade with sunlight. They are also prone to scratching and may have inconsistency with regards to colouring and patterns. Please be very careful of expensive imitations. |
If you are in doubt please ask the company in question to prove the authenticity of their claims. As a company we normally send out a video CD along with a brochure so our customers can see exactly how Cimstone worktops are made. |
Some companies in the past have claimed that their product is Cimstone, an easy way to check whether this is true or not is to look at the back of the quartz as all Cimstone quartz have Cimstone printed repeatedly. |
Buying Granite Worktops |
The most popular colours of granite these days are absolute black and star galaxy granite. If you are choosing absolute black granite make sure that it is black. Many companies are selling granite that is grey but is dyed black. The way to check if it is actually black is to look at the side and check for consistency in colour also look for the grain and contrast of the stone face, dyed granite usually hides the natural grain. |
